I love your optimism guys,but come on - we've lost to LMU 2 years in a row. We stink. Grier cannot handle star players...BJ is a 5th year senior with no help and he's the problem?
Grier is not progressing as a head coach and it really concerns me.
No way we should be 1-5 in conference. Ky Snyder wants to finish in the top half of the conference...Grier has 2 more years to improve things things significantly.

Yeah, I was paying attention. I called it a bad shot because it barely grazed iron....the whole offensive set was pretty poor regardless. I might have mixed up the other one with the Dorr/Lewis heave with about 5 minutes left in the game........my SINCEREST apologies.

im all about being positive/optimistic about things when there is at least some light at the end of the tunnel but come on guys...this program is garbage right now.
head coach issues. seniors are not leading. nobody out there really looks like they give a damn anymore. grier gets paid stupid $$$ regardless of how dumb/lost we look. these are all huge issues.
dont sit there and tell me this was one of our best games all season after we lost the game. if one of our best games is one against a shit team like LMU in which we LOSE then we might as well be playing high school teams.
safe to say ive seen enough.

I haven't posted on this board in awhile, mostly because after watching the game against Southern Illinois all the way back in the Vegas tourney, I knew this team was going nowhere.
In regards to the 09-10 Toreros, the best word to describe them is CHOKE. I can count at least 7-8 games this season that we were either a) leading at halftime or b) were close to other team in the 1st half. In 2nd halfs this team cannot play period. Look at these games Box Scores: @LMU,Portland, South Florida, Southern Illinois, New Mexico, UC Riverside, Pacific. All of these games we were either close at the half or leading and we choked. I think a key to a successful 10-11 Season will be holding first half leads and improving our 2nd half play. That means also firing the strength and conditioning coach.
As for the positives well there really are only two Manresa and Rancifer. While I thought McCollum was going to be the star, it also looks like Miles has quickly surpassed him as well for playing time. I think we are going to be starting two freshman next year folks: Fajesian and Vozzola. You pair those two with Manresa, Rancifer and Dorr and by god you have a big-athletic starting lineup.
BJ and De'Jon are the two stars of the 09-10 team. Both of these guys are going to make us or break us and honestly both are breaking us right now. Manresa and Door should not be taking double-digit shot attempts a game. That should be De'Jon and BJ. Both need to man up and realize that if they ever want to play basketball anywhere after this season they need to show some leadership. Right now I wouldn't sign either of these guys to a contract to the Bratislava Pro Basketball League (BPBL).
Also on another note Santa Clara sucks and will continue to suck. That run yesterday against the Zags was a fluke. Zaga has the players, height and depth to make noise in the NCAA Tourney. I see Gonzaga going farther then they ever have. I expect Elite 8 out of them this year.

LMU fan here…we were lucky to get that win. We have had a number of injuries recently and we have a lot of guys that been on the bench getting minutes, and we had to grind it out. I thought you guys did a good job in the first half. You guys certainly have talented players to build on and great recruits coming in. However, I was surprised why Johnson didn’t start. He should be on the floor at all times! A friend and I spoke with him briefly after the game and seemed to be a very nice guy. Good luck against Pepperdine.
Jumpman22- Don’t feel too bad about losing to “shit” team like LMU. We have wins against Notre Dame and USC this year are at .500. Last years loss was the time to feel bad about since we had 4 scholarship players and walk-ons suited up.

Jumpman you're acting quite juvenile and spoiled. Anyone can see that LMU is an up and coming team in this conference. Our wins over Oklahoma, Houston, and stanford are all fine and dandy, but none of them stack up to LMU's win at USC and especially not their win on the road against big east power Notre Dame. I think we all need a reality check. If LMU lost, I think at this point they could say that they had lost to the shit team. We are the lowest scoring team in the conference and are in last place. Stop taking your frustrations out on other posters and realize the confernce picture as it stands to everyone else. Tides are changing. We are falling. Just quit calling out teams like lmu as shit. The only team we should be questioning is, in fact, our own.
I'm just as frustrated....but no need to be a poor sport. LMU got it done and USD did not...congrats to them being the better team right now....

definitely a disappointing loss. i dont care so much about our record but would like to see this team start to gain some confidence and build some momentum going into next season. that being said, i would honestly rather take a loss while seeing significant minutes and contribution from freshman players than to simply see the same usual seniors and 5th year senior bj put us on his shoulders as usual and win what is essentially a meaningless game. i think in this game all of our freshman obviously have the skill to play at this level but what has been lacking so far is their confidence and i think the past 2 games have instilled a lot of confidence in crucial young players like cameron miles, manresa and rancifer. i hope to see them build off this and play strong throughout the remainder of the season.
as far as grier goes... yes i think he has several faults as a new head coach and may not be the best at motivating players and building their confidence but one thing no one can deny is that in his limited time he has proven to be a hell of a recruiter. while i get tired of saying "i cant wait till next season", next season really should be interesting as we will finally have big bodies and depth down low and skill and athleticism at the guard positions. in response to your predictions Blue, I agree that vozzola should step in right away and have a huge contribution but I believe that of the 4 recruits Fajemisin* will probably see the least amount of time as he seems to be a bit of a project who will need time to develop his body and refine his game. I think that down low, transfer chris gabriel should see the most minutes but i also see kramer and fuller contributing as well.
anyways, next year should be interesting to see those 4 freshmen and how they can contribute and also to see how transfer chris gabriel and redshirt jordan mackie are able to fit in. .. can't wait for next year!

Also too bad to see clinton houston end like that. while i never thought he would blossom into a true star on this team, being able to rotate in another big body with rebounding ability could have definitely helped this team. As Dogpatch said, hopefully that opens up a spot for either godwin okonji or vander joaquim (although next year we already have 3 freshman over 6'8" coming in and the eligibility of 6'10" chris gabriel... that being said, having too many bigs is not a problem i'm worried about). to be honest, i'm hoping there is some unknown super long/athletic wing player out there that grier is working on that none of us know about... but everyone can dream.

i have called our team out several times.
they very well may be "up and coming" but that doesnt make them 'it' right now.
and it doesnt mean we should lose to them.
i never took anything away from their big wins...which i believe are great for the wcc as a whole.
i just pointed out how bipolar we have been with our wins vs good teams and horrible losses to down level teams throughout...this topic has been covered in great detail on this board.
maybe i shouldnt call them a shit team.
look-im probably not posting what you want to hear but i will still speak my mind regardless.
i expected a better season. when you compare our roster to other wcc teams, we are not at a great disadvantage and should be at least in the middle of the pack.
