Memberthis is incredible...we are inventing ways to lose. 1 made free throw, one non-call on an obvious foul, and I'm not sure what the hell Dorr was thinking fouling on a 3-pointer.
As bad as the end was, we lost the game in the 2nd half again - another long terrible stretch.
Just awful...not sure what the problem is but we are totaly under-acheiving this year.

what a heartbreaker... i mean it's easy to blame the ref and say we should've snuck out with that OT win, but we played a terrible second half (again.......). if we had kept up the intensity from the first half it wouldve been an easy win for USD.

Member-Tough game.....definitely agree with you guys about the poor 2nd half play.
-Pretty surprised that we actually forced the game to OT. Clutch shot by Chris Lewis. I used to rag on him a lot, but I have to give the guy his props.....he always brings it on both ends of the court.
-BJ had a pretty good game....struggled for a lot of the 2nd half, but played very well over all.
-Bad news regarding Dejon.....Grier thinks he may have a torn ACL.....uh oh. In addition to losing DJ, it would mean that Ginty would likely get more minutes....double uh oh.
-Can't believe that guy hit the looooong 3 with about 12 seconds left. He misses that, it's likely game over.
-As I mentioned before, I can't believe the refs didn't blow the whistle when BJ was blatantly hanging onto the guy at midcourt.
-That's basically the end of any hopes at the 4 seed. If we win against Santa Clara on Saturday, we're likely looking at the 5 or 6 seed.Posted 7 months ago # -

Memberereiz03: i agree with you. and yes by the looks of it dj is done. you could read it on his face as well as the trainer. this team just doesn't know how to close out. very frustrating. for a second i thought we were coming out with it in OT...until that crazy shot went in AFTER the blown call.

MemberUSF has more talent that we do, top to bottom, and easily. That said, I'm sorry, but the missed calls on BJ, when he's not simply trying to foul the guy but clearly IS fouling him, come on...you have an official who is one of two things: utterly incompetent or corrupt. Either way, that guy should not work another D-1 college game. As poorly as we played in stretches, USF played just as poorly. Sorry, this was a game decided by an official at the end. USF is quicker at every position that we are, hence the effectiveness of their trap, and STILL...we win this game if an official actually does his job when it is EASY. We're not talking a tough call, this was AFTER we TELL the guy, "hey, we have four fouls, we're gonna give a few here." He KNEW we were going to foul. Sorry, you don't "miss" that unless there is something very wrong with you.
Whatever, such is life. And, btw, Grier is an acehole. After the game on the radio, when he should've stood up and defended BJ not getting those calls, instead he says he'd really need to look at it on film, blah blah blah, you phucking hosebag, stand up for your player and make the conference fine you.
Coward.

MemberWell it is games like this that really make me ticked off. The reason you ask? Because all season its been the same old song and dance. I am not going to repeat myself again in length, all I am going to say is chalk this one up to one of those that should have been a win, yet was blown in the 2nd half!
1) I'm sorry, but Devin Ginty could easily be blamed for this loss. We are creaming them, they sub in Devin and USF and Lowhorn go crazy on him. I mean he turns it over, he can't dribble with his left to save his life, and he has lost complete confidence in his shot. I mean he was passing up wide open 3's tonight. I am hoping during SCU to see a student plucked from the student section to play for Ginty. I mean honestly, at least that kid might not argue after every single call.
2) The refs were bad sure...but this loss can't be blamed on the refs. Am I the only one that believes that BJ didn't foul that kid hard enough? I mean wrap him for goodness sakes! But no, he gives him space to feed a pass to that USF kid for a miracle three. What does Dorr do? Let's him shoot the shot then fouls him! This is stuff all these kids should have learned in JV ball, yet they can never seem to get it right. So don't blame the refs people blame Dorr and BJ.
3) As for BJ. The guy was tired because he was carrying the team on his back the entire 1st half. Now the 2nd half and OT was a completely different story. Not to mention his free throws were atrocious tonight. I mean seriously BJ make 2 or 3 of those and we win the game. While I will give BJ props for his 1st half, and blame his 2nd half on Ginty, Dorr, and Mafra who make his job that much harder.
All in all like ereiz said, we are done with a 4-seed in the WCC. Kiss it...Kiss it goodbye. Now we have to hope that we can somehow pull of one win on the road against Portland, but if we don't we are doomed to a 6, maybe even 7 seed. I can't believe I'm saying this, but now this SCU game is a must win. Otherwise we are looking at the cellar.
GINTY NEEDS TO GO!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

MemberI didn't see the game but from looking at the box score it seems it came down to making free throws and we didn't make them. If DJ tore is ACL that is terrible news, he will be missed, had a great career and will always be remembered for the shot against UCONN. I would like to see Miles get the minutes and then McCollum and go through the growing pains. Ginty should not be playing at all and I have said this for awhile now and I told my friend Joey he should be playing instead of Ginty. Also I am surprised Rancifer only got 9 minutes and it seems like Manresa didn't have a good game.
