Looking forward to the game tonight. Should definitely be a win for us and I really want to see BJ break the scoring record.
I hope they stop the game for a minute and give him the attention he deserves.

ugh. 43 Points? I only watched the last 8 minutes or so, but ugh. I coach 7th and 8th graders, and they scored 40 today. With 6 minute quarters. Ugly.

the getting old part? the one where every single time someone doesn't start or play it is Grier's fault. Same comment was made in relation to Miles not playing the second half then it was revealed he was sick and had to actually leave the bench he was so sick. It wasn't Grier playing games - just that someone was actually sick. Same thing happens tonight - someone sees BJ isn't starting and its "the same old story"....turns out he also was sick and didn't even practice yesterday according to the broadcast. Why is it the automatic assumption that Grier isn't going to put the best players on the floor he thinks are going to win? You think Grier wants to lose?
The first year and half all anyone here could do is say Grier was the next coming of God...now he is suddenly the worst coach and person ever.....what is wrong with some of you? Talk about jumping off the bandwagon...
You make it out that I am an apologist for the coaches - that isn't the case. If it comes across that way its because 90% of the posts here lately are just rips on the staff.
One poster calls Grier an "acehole", "phucking hosebag", and "coward". That person should be ashamed of himself and grow up and act like a mature adult....you give USD a bad name with that type of decorum.
What is it with young people and not respecting others?

MemberGrier doesn't start BJ the night he knows he could become the school's all time leading scorer. Grier doesn't press Santa Clara until two minutes left in the game when it is over. Grier has somehow started a pattern, whereby his teams start the year with good wins against, often, better teams, then just regress. Two years in a row, his teams have simply gotten worse as the year goes on.
That said, there is a talent deficit on this team that is glaring. Dorr is literally afraid of the basket if he gets closer than ten feet, and our freshman guards are playing as if they have to be careful they don't actually use their athleticism too much. As for Mafra and Crescencio, I don't know why he recruited them. Crescencio has been hurt, obviously, but Mafra has simply not developed at all. We are what we are at this point, a team with no confidence and a coach who seems incapable of instilling it in his players. And, as for the great recruiting class coming in next year, they will still be freshman, and you know how many freshman on the D-1 level make a real splash on any team in one year? Let's put it this way, this ain't the fab-5 coming in next year. I don't see things getting better for this program until at least Manresa, Rancifer and Miles are juniors.
As for BJ, it sucks he didn't get the record tonight, and it sucked even worse watching DJ on crutches.

Membergo usd -- if BJ is well enough to come into the game when he did, then you start him. missing practice because you're sick, when you're THAT player on THIS team, come on, you start the kid. I looked right at BJ before the game, gestured "what's up?" and he simply shook his head in frustration.
And sorry, but I wasn't on this board Grier's first year and a half, and I knew there was a problem with his style his first year. I went to all the games, and I could see it. Whether he knows it or not, he is incredibly disrespectful to his players during games. His act is tired, immature and buffoonish. Why should he expect his players to be under control and playing smart when he is an idiot on the sidelines.
Seriously, we were down by double digits with five minutes left and he WAS NOT PRESSING.
That is bad coaching, no matter how you slice it. What is he going to claim, his team was too sick to press?
As for the kids being sick again, look, Miles started and at the end of the game he was ready to puke on the court. I don't buy the BJ didn't start because he was sick routine.

gousd seems to think we all hate the staff at usd because of what one poster said.
and to answer the question about whether or not we think grier wants to lose: it has nothing to do with that. he very well may want to win but perhaps doesnt know what to do to get there...and THAT is our problem.
tonight was the worst college game i have ever been to.

I appreciate the positivity during this rough time, but now you are really starting to standout as the only person who seems to support Grier.
I've said my piece about Grier, but honestly why bother again?
Devin Ginty played 30 minutes tonight...that is 3/4 of the game Ginty was on the floor trying to guard somebody. I wasn't even watching the game tonight because I would rather watch teams with talent then a high school player like Ginty on this floor. You want to start saying how disgusting USD fans are being on this board gousd?
What's disgusting to me is Ginty is getting a scholarship for this garbage. As are Crescencio & Mafra, who right now would easily get worked by most high school top prospects.
I also want to thank transferguy for bringing up the fact that the alumni are getting fed up with Grier. How do you have a guy who is 2 points from the school scoring record, and you take him out? Now he goes on the road in breaks it in Portland where no one will witness it who gives a s*it. Sorry for the language but this really is a slap in the fact to BJ. I'm sure if he's sick or not, he wanted to break that record in the slim gym.
The season is dead and this team is destined to finish with 20 losses. Only good thing about 20 losses, is it puts Grier on the hot seat next year...LIKE HE DESERVES!!!!!
