I'm almost embarrassed to dignify that post with a response but...Are you seriously comparing USD's outlook for next year to this year's New mexico squad? That is so ludicrous I'm not sure where to start.
First of all, New Mexico was also pretty darn good last year, finishing 21-10 in the MWC. Second, the Lobos returned a pretty studly PG (Gary). Third, while New Mexico does play a good amount of youngsters, it's still a trio of upperclassmen (Gary, Hobson, Martinez) that stir the drink.
Conversely, the Toreros are on pace to finish in the bottom half of the WCC, lose 4 starters and arguably their two best players (BJ, DJ), and will lack a clear cut point guard, player who can consistently create his own shot, and in general, toughness. When you consider how thin the team projects to be in the backcourt next year (Miles, McCollum, Vozzola, Dorr, Ginty...and that's it)...now, I'm a glass half-full kinda guy, but methinks your glass is overflowing with Kool-Aid.
