   I'll give Grier this, he does own Pepperdine.

   While I have been critical of him all season, I like the starting lineup he threw out there tonight: Brandon Johnson, Patrick McCollum, Ken Rancifer, Chris Lewis, and Roberto Mafra. While I don't think they will make it past the quarters, this truly is the perfect mix of youth and veterans that this team needed. My question to Grier is why did it take him until the last game of the WCC regular season to figure this out?

   Oh well, maybe this lineup goes crazy. I think during one of these conference tournaments, some crazy upset is going to happen and steal a spot away from STDSU.

   I don't know if I'd say "own". After all, Pepperdine beat USD last year to end a 9-game losing streak to USD. Let's just say, there is no doubt that Pepperdine is the worst team in the WCC.

   And as a general aside, I think people are really overempahsizing the importance of who started and who didn't this year. The Toreros didn't have major issues starting games, they had major issues finishing them. Taking a wide view of things, I have a hard time finding fault with BJ, DJ, Lewis, Dorr, Mafra/Manresa as a starting five when that option was healthy and available.

   I agree Matto. Maybe this is all some big plot by Grier. Play lame duck all season, then shock them all during the Tournament.

   Honestly, all I want is to see us turn some heads. Even a win over Portland, and it's something good to build on for next season.
